But the people of Marwar have given life to these barren lands with organic dyes, discharge prints, handblock, lehariya and bandhej on material that is skin friendly and comfortable for any climate. Rajasthan specializes in material like cotton, mul, kota doria, chiffon and georgette that are soothing and go well in all seasons. The magic created by the people and karigars of Rajasthan by combining art and tradition in the form of colours, folklore, food, beauty, fashion, comfort wear needs to be showcased to the world. Despite the fact that Rajasthan has a lot to offer to the world of fashion, these age-old crafts are dying a slow death with people turning towards high end brands and the local artisans switching their traditional art to modern jobs for a livelihood.
A mother daughter duo who are madly in love with fashion, art and the rich heritage of Rajasthan decided to take a leap and bring Magique to your wardrobe.To be a homegrown business entity is a conscious decision for our efforts to shift the focus from brands that use high-tech machines to handmade products that have deep rooted human involvement of local artisans. Fashion industry lured me with the challenge to link age-old arts of Rajasthan with the ever-changing global fashion trends. The focus was not only to showcase Rajasthani fashion and trends in an innovative way but also support the depleting local artisans community. So, after playing with financial numbers as a banker for two decades and limiting myself to a few colours , I decided to ditch them and plunged into the world of colours. Rajasthan is also known as the Land of Colours and has a lot to offer in terms of Fashion. I felt this strongly having lived and traveled overseas. It is Magique that pulled me towards that evasive rainbow as a social entrepreneur.
Magique is French for magic and the idea of our brand is to create magic with a flavour of Rajasthan in the hearts of people around the world. We are based in Jodhpur with a customer base across
geographies. As a brand, we want to be socially responsible, give back to the society at the grass root level and build a momentum for the artisans community that is striving hard to keep this tradition
alive.
